Santa Fe Pro Musica deeply regrets that Charles Z. Bornstein inadvertently did not receive credit as the Orchestrator of Aaron Stern’s original piano work “A Leonard Bernstein Memory” in the program for the Dec. 29, 2017 performance by the Santa Fe Pro Musica Orchestra at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Maestro Bornstein is a graduate of The Juilliard School, was assistant to Leonard Bernstein in Salzburg for his Mahler 8th Symphony performances and was appointed the First Leonard Bernstein Scholar in Residence of the New York Philharmonic. Besides being lauded as a brilliant conductor with recent appearances with the Jerusalem Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and the Bayerische Rundfunks and Chorus, he is a brilliant orchestrator of unique ability as this work reflects. Maestro Bornstein’s CLARION CALLS – a symphony in memory of John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King was premiered in Carnegie Hall and on PBS Television with William Devane reading the JFK words and Paul Winfield reading MLK.
